Archdeacon David was born in the hard winter of 1947 above his father's pharmacy in Oulton Broad. This experience still does not save him from getting cold when visiting many churches in one day!
Following training in Durham and Bristol, David was ordained in 1971 and served in Chichester, Chelmsford and St Edmundsbury and Ipswich dioceses before being allowed back to Norwich in 1984 to be Vicar of Cromer and Priest in Charge of Gresham. He has served as Rural Dean twice and as part time hospital chaplain.
David became Archdeacon of Norfolk in May 2002. He is married to Ruby and they have two daughters and six grandchildren. He enjoys being on or near water.
He goes to lots of meetings which he loves (of course!) but he really enjoys being in the parishes, of which there are nearly three hundred in the Archdeaconry. David's special interests across the whole Diocese include ‘New ways of being church' and ‘Church Tourism'.
