Those managing church finance

With a combined turnover of £12 million, the 550 Parochial Church Councils in the Diocese manage their local church's finance.  The Diocese supports and assists these churches providing resources and guidance to their treasurers and clergy, in areas such as the principals of Christian giving, Gift Aid, accounts and budgeting, and fees from weddings and funerals.

The Church of England asks all churches to contribute towards the cost of the mission and ministry of the Church - called Parish Share - primarily to fund the cost of clergy who are paid from a national pay roll.  Each parish makes a contribution based on its church membership, and the Diocese manages the administration of such contributions which total around £6.5 million per year.
