Annual PCC Accounts & Returns - an update

Posted on Thursday 22 September 2011
May we take this opportunity to thank your PCC and its members if it is one of the 405 parishes who have returned the Annual Report & Accounts.

Dear Colleague,

Annual Report & Accounts, Independent Examiners Certificate, Finance and Statistics forms

May I take this opportunity to thank your PCC and its members if your PCC is one of the 405 parishes who have returned the Annual Report & Accounts with the appropriate Independent Examiners Certificate attached, together with the Return of Parish Finance and finally the Statistics for Mission form, within good time after your Annual Parochial Church Meeting.

These forms are requested annually from each PCC and form part of the reporting process required by both the Charity Commission in respect of annual accounts and the Archbishops’ Council in respect of annual activity statistics.

I understand that there are many calls upon the time of our volunteers and we are always grateful for your time and energies expended on behalf of your church.

For the collection of 2011 data, instead of relying wholly on computers for the distribution and collection of forms as we did for 2010, we will be sending a hard copy of relevant forms together with an aide memoire/checklist to all PCC Secretaries, giving a clear indication of what they are expected to provide, to whom and by when. These forms will still be available to download and complete online for those who wish to use this method.

This year however, there are still over 165 parishes yet to send in all the forms or accounts. Some have only one item left to send and others regrettably, have all four items yet to send to the Diocese. I would strongly urge you to work with your Deanery Assessor and /or Rural Dean who I am sure will have been endeavouring to get the accounts and forms submitted.

If you are having trouble accessing the forms, or are unsure what to do with them, please contact Alan Muff or James South at Diocesan House who will be able to assist you.

I would like this year to be a record year for submissions and look forward to hearing that the outstanding forms and accounts are flooding in!

Finally, may I thank you again for your continued support towards Parish Share and for the £6,355,000 which was collected last year towards Mission and Ministry across the Diocese.

With all best wishes

Richard M Butler
Diocesan Secretary
