Lent Project 2012 - Empowering women in PNG

Posted on Thursday 12 January 2012
The Lent Project in 2012 is raising money for HIV/AIDS education, women’s literacy, and enabling income generation in Papua New Guinea.

Can your church support our Lent Project in 2012?
  • 54,000 people in Papua New Guinea live with HIV/AIDS, resulting in 1,000 deaths per year
  • Over 40% of the population are illiterate - most of them women
The 2012 Diocesan Lent Project aims to empower women in Papua New Guinea.  We want to help and the money given will help with HIV / AIDS education, women’s literacy, and buying sewing machines to enable income generation.  Can your church be part of this project?

Parishes have been sent posters, leaflets and money boxes for the appeal (11/12 January) and in addition there are an increasing number of resources available on the website such as bible studies, PowerPoint presentations, All-Age Worship, school assemblies, and prayers and hymns.
