Dean of Norwich visiting Zimbabwe

Posted on Wednesday 1 February 2012
Please remember the Dean of Norwich, the Very Revd Graham Smith, in your prayers as he spends time with the clergy and people of the Diocese of Harare.

The Dean writes:-

"From early February until mid-April I will be taking Sabbatical leave in Zimbabwe, and will be working closely with the Bishop and Dean of Harare, observing and listening to an Anglican diocese which has undergone extreme privation in recent years, as a result of government policy.

"Whilst the country is more stable now than it has been in recent times, Anglican Christians have had to evolve new ways of gathering for worship and ministering to the wider community. I have been asked to contribute to clergy education, and to visit clergy and people in their parishes.

"My visit comes a few months after the successful visit to Harare by the Archbishop of Canterbury, and it is the view of the Archbishop's Office, and also of the Diocese of Harare, that it will contribute to the continuing solidarity of the world-wide Anglican Communion with our brothers and sisters in Zimbabwe.

"I hope to be able to send regular e-mail bulletins of my work, for publication in the Cathedral and Diocese. May I ask that my visit, and all that might flow from it, be the subject of your continuing prayers?"
