Sometimes churchwardens or other lay people find themselves thrust into the limelight and having to lead an act of worship.
This is especially true in multi-parish benefices, where, in the absence of a priest or a licensed Reader, a service will not happen unless someone steps in.
Following our popular days at elsewhere in the diocese, The Diocesan Liturgy Committee is running a similar day in the south of the diocese. Our aim is to supplement training already being provided in parishes, with the aim of providing competence and commonality across the diocese.
Saturday 15th September 2012, 9.30 am – 4.00 pm
at Cloverfield Church, Thetford
The day will include:
Opening plenary “What is worship?”
Workshops (participants to choose two) – the following are some examples:
What is a Service of the Word and how do we plan one?
How to create and lead worship in a Fresh Expression of Church
What to do in the ‘sermon slot’
Creative ways of presenting readings and leading intercessions
How to use seasonal resources
How to use the Psalms and lectionary
How to choose music for worship
Plenary “How to lead Worship.”
Act of Worship (Service of the Word) which will incorporate material prepared in the workshops
Please bring your own lunch. The cost of the day will be £10 – please make cheques payable to the Norwich DBF.
Please complete and return the slip on the attached document before 7th September to register.
As part of the Celebrate Norfolk event, the Diocese of Norwich are pleased to welcome Mark Chester and Tony Sharp for a special Who Let The Dads Out (WLTDO) workshop.
