Diocesan House Caretaker, Tony Powell, remembered
Posted on Tuesday 28 August 2012
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Tony Powell who died of cancer on Wednesday 1 August 2012.
As a member of the Diocesan House staff team remarked at Tony's funeral, Tony was the one member of staff everyone saw every day, as he moved from office to office in the late afternoon, collecting the recycling, greeting and chatting to us all.
Tony worked at Diocesan House as Caretaker for 14 years, and latterly was responsible for the care of Emmaus House too. He was a private person, but always ready to debate some item from the day's newspapers, and had a sharp and lively interest in the world around him. His impact on the diocesan staff was demonstrated by the number who attended his funeral at Colney Wood, to say their farewells and to support his partner and family.
Please remember his partner Sue and their children in your prayers and thoughts. He will be sorely missed.
Due to the retirement of our successful Headteacher we are offering an exciting opportunity to lead our federated schools, to build on the excellent work that has already been achieved and further expand the federation to include other schools in the future.
This is a part time appointment (21 hours weekly, to be worked Wednesday to Friday) based at Bishop’s House, adjacent to the Cathedral in the heart of Norwich.
