CRB Checks for Readers: An Update

Posted on Wednesday 19 September 2012
We wanted to let you all know the current situation regarding CRB checks for Readers.

The checks for all Readers are organised through the Warden's office, and this covers the Reader for all ministry within their parishes. For example, if part of their ministry is working with children, there is no need for the parish to carry out a separate check.  Please note, this does not apply to work in schools or other organisations which may have their own requirements but as far as the Diocese is concerned, only one check is required and that is done through this office.

As with all clergy, CRB checks for Readers are renewed every 5 years.

If you have any general enquiries about the Diocesan safeguarding procedures & CRB checks then please contact Roger Hennessey, the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer at roger.hennessey@norwich.anglican.org or (particularly in relation to work with children and young people) to Mark Heybourne at mark.heybourne@norwich.anglican.org

With best wishes and renewed thanks for all you do.

John Ashe
Warden of Readers
