Gift Aid
You will not need reminding that parishes are facing an 11% drop in Gift Aid income due to the reduction in income tax rates from April 2008. The total loss across the Diocese could be in excess of 100,000 GBP next year assuming that parishes take no action to increase their tax efficient giving.
We have now updated the website with resources which we hope will encourage parishes to increase their Gift Aid income. The first link below contains a checklist of simple steps parishes can take to increase their Gift Aid.
We have also negotiated a 60 day no obligation free trial of a Gift Aid management database developed by Phil Robson, a Gift Aid expert, who some you will recall gave a presentation at Diocesan House last year. Details are available from the 'GiftEase' link below.
We have 10 copies available at Diocesan House and we are looking for volunteer parishes to trial the programme together with a campaign to boost Gift Aid drawn up with the parish concerned and supported from Diocesan House. If you would like to volunteer your parish or would like more details do please get in touch.
Finally, we have looked again at the possibility of a centralised system for processing and claiming Gift Aid. If this is of interest please let me know.
With best wishes,
David Broom
