Passion Sunday at the Cathedral
Bach's St John Passion
At 6.30 pm next Sunday 9th March, Passion Sunday, The St John Passion of J S Bach will be performed in the Cathedral by the Cathedral Consort and Norwich Baroque conducted by David McKee

The Passion will be sung in English, as a liturgical event - a Passiontide devotion, in other words - and the congregation will be encouraged to join in with singing the chorales. The full text of the work will be provided in the service booklets, together with the words and music of the chorales. As at the first performance on Good Friday 1724 the Passion will be sung through without a break and there will be three short homilies or reflections given by me (the Precentor) interspersed through the evening. There will be no charge for admission as this is intended to be an act of worship and a preparation for Holy Week. The Reverend Canon J M Haselock FSA Precentor and Vice Dean Norwich Cathedral
