Make 2009 a year for social responsibility

Posted on Thursday 8 January 2009
Let us make 2009 a year to join God's mission of compassion and social justice to our neighbours, our churches, our communities, our nation and our world.

Download a new calendar of days and weeks throughout 2009 at http://www.norwich.anglican.org/social/Calendar2009.doc

This calendar of events will hopefully be a useful resource. It is very much a work in progress so please forgive any omissions or errors. The plan is to turn it into a fuller booklet for future years.

Please pray for the mission of the Diocesan Social and Community Concerns Forum, for Bishop James as Chair and myself as co-ordinator. Please pray too for our ecumenical and regional partners.

A prayer from Anselm (1033-1109):
God of Love, whose compassion never fails;
We bring before you the troubles and perils of people and nations,
the sighing of prisoners and captives, the sorrows of the bereaved, the necessities of strangers,
the helplessness of the weak, the despondency of the weary, the failing powers of the ageing.
O Lord, draw near to each;
for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

The Revd Simon Wilson
