Business Award for Diocese of Norwich
Business Award for Diocese of Norwich
Many schools and businesses are proud to be holders of the Investors in People Standard, but not many churches have been involved in the scheme.

The Diocesan office of the Church of England’s Diocese of Norwich has now been awarded the Standard and the Bishop of Norwich has received the award on behalf of the Staff. The Diocese is thought to be only the second in the country to receive Investors in People accreditation.

Assistant Diocesan Secretary, David Broom, said, “The Church has always invested in its people in terms of pastoral care but we are breaking new ground in investing in our people working at the business end of the Church. Diocesan House at Easton is the administrative hub of the Diocese of Norwich which supports the mission and ministry of the 577 parishes across Norfolk and Waveney. The staff are at the heart of the organisation and it is clearly important that we invest in their development and management so that they are all able to make a full and valuable contribution to the work of the Diocese, and are working to a highly efficient and effective standard. We are delighted to receive IiP accreditation. It is validation of that investment as well as being a mandate for further work and development to ensure that our staff  are fully equipped to meet the challenges and opportunities of the future.”

Diocesan House, based at Easton on the outskirts of Norwich, is the administrative centre of the Diocese and employs 27 full and part-time staff who are responsible for the care of the church buildings, the maintenance of vicarages and glebe land, finance and parish support, communications, and the support of the Diocese's 112 church schools.
