(Bishop Graham’s letter to all clergy in December is still available at http://www.norwich.anglican.org/documents/Committed-to-Growth-Letter-1Dec.pdf). The Bishop is very keen that every part of the diocese should be represented at this service which is a Diocesan celebration of Committed to Growth; the Cathedral clearly has room to accommodate the clergy and a number of lay people from every benefice.
It may be helpful to give you a little more information about the day:
The service
Designed for everyone, this service will be a great gathering at which we can give thanks for what God is doing in our diocese and commit ourselves afresh to growing in the ways of the Kingdom. There will be:-
- involvement from people around the diocese in readings, prayers and symbolic action
- rousing music
- the offering and blessing of growth plans (please do be prepared to bring your growth plan with you on the day)
- a presentation by the Saltmine Theatre Company
- an address from Bishop Graham
After the service
There will be free refreshments available in the Cloister, and a variety of trails and tours available, as well as the prayer labyrinth in the centre of the Cloisters.
Saltmine Theatre Company
Saltmine will be presenting a short sketch during the service. Afterwards you have the opportunity to see them performing 'The Hope Play'- designed for people of all ages this is a lively re-telling of the story of Joseph and involves three actors, twelve mops, a ukulele and a bugle. A trailer for the play can be seen at http://www.saltminetrust.org.uk/idx/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=35&Itemid=53
Stalls / displays on the day
We hope that there may be a number of stalls or displays showing ideas and examples to inspire others. If your parish, deanery or organization would like to show some of your work please e-mail margaret.mallett@norwich.anglican.org
Photos from your church(es)
Do you have pictures of some Committed to Growth activity which we could use in a PowerPoint presentation on the day? If so, please email them to Charles Read at charles.read@norwich.anglican.org. They can be one picture or several and could be of a special event or something you do regularly.
