Reopening of the Julian Centre
'It is God's will that we should rejoice with him in our salvation and that we should be cheered and strengthened by it' Julian of Norwich

The Julian Centre in Norwich was recently re-opened following extensive restructuring and refurbishment. The Friends of Julian Chairman Brian Thorne said, ”The appeal has reached £128,000 thanks to the generosity of 370 individual donors and 43 Corporate and Charity donations. Local Charity The Geoffery Watling Trust and The Heritage Lottery Fund made very generous and timely donations”. Amongst the 50 guests who attended the reception launch, were The Lord Mayor of Norwich Councillor Roy Blower and the Lady Mayoress, the Bishop of Norwich and the Bishop of Thetford and The Dean of Norwich and novelist Susan Howatch who is a patron the Friends. Brian Thorne told the gathering that the Heritage Fund had made a grant of £50,000 which would enable the appointment of a ‘Learning Project Officer’, to help raise the profile of Mother Julian’s work and life. “We now need to raise funds to secure that post beyond the 2 years. Additionally we now have to raise funds to cover the running costs of the Centre” Brian stressed.
