Bishop James' farewell service at St Margaret's, King's Lynn

Posted on Tuesday 31 August 2010
In addition to the service in Norwich Cathedral on Sunday 17 October to say goodbye to Bishop James, a service will be held in St Margaret's, King's Lynn on the previous Sunday.

Following Bishop James’ appointment as Bishop of Rochester, we have all been invited to a service in Norwich Cathedral on Sunday, 17th October, at 3.30 pm to say goodbye to Bishop James and Bridget. Details are at http://www.norwich.anglican.org/article/889

While this will be the official goodbye from the Diocese, it seemed a good idea to provide another opportunity, particularly for those to the west of Bishop James’ Episcopal area and also to which those unable to be present on the 17th October would be welcome. We have, therefore planned an occasion at St Margaret’s, King’s Lynn on the previous Sunday, 10th October, at 4.30 pm.

Please make this as widely known as possible. Bishop James’ ministry has touched many areas of community life in West Norfolk and we hope that all will feel welcome to this service at which we will be able to give thanks for his ministry and pray for him and Bridget as they start this new chapter of their lives in Rochester.

Music is an important part of James’ life and we hope to form a combined choir from across the parishes. If anyone would like to sing with the choir, please email Canon Chris Ivory at vicar@stmargaretskingslynn.org.uk by 24th September, including your voice and contact details. Please note that there will be a rehearsal at 7.30 pm on Friday, 8th October at St Margaret’s.

We would appreciate some idea of numbers as we will be providing refreshments after the service. Please email office@stmargaretskingslynn.org.uk or telephone the Church Office on 01553 772858 office to let us know.

Clergy and Readers are invited to robe. Please indicate that you will be doing so when you reply.

John Ashe, Archdeacon of Lynn
