Tuesday 21 October
9.30 - 4.00 at Diocesan House
An opportunity to investigate ways that churches can support schools in using church buildings as a place of worship and as a curriculum resource. There will be a chance to look at practical examples as well as exploring the theology of working with schools. Clergy and lay welcome.
Part of a series of events supporting parishes in their work with schools. An opportunity to share good practice, pick up tips and hints and develop strategies for building and maintaining excellent relationships with local schools - irrespective of whether or not they are Church of England schools. The day will be led by Susanna Gunner and Revd. Ian Bentley. Susanna is currently the Diocesan Lay Development Co-ordinator and she brings a wealth of experience in developing worship and curriculum experiences for children in churches and cathedrals. Ian, formerly a deputy headteacher, is currently the incumbent at Oulton Broad where he works closely with the community schools in his parish; in his previous benefice he worked extensively with three Church of England primary schools.
