This is the third in a series of workshops being run across the diocese.
Revd Paul Mackay of St Catherine's. Mile Cross, who attended the second workshop in February together with Joyce Lincoln, the 'named person' for St Catherine's, comments: "There are often issues in ministry that we would like to avoid and pretend dont or wont involve us, and this issue of abuse and what it really is may well be one of them. No matter where we are serving, and who we are serving, this is an essential day-course to do. Dealt with frankly and sensitively, Sue Atkinson opened up a world that so often in the past has been swept under the carpet and the need to care for the vulnerable and to love the lost strikes right into the heart of Christian ministry. I wholeheartedly recommend all clergy and named persons to attend this day." Joyce backs this up: "This is not an easy subject, but it is an opportunity to look at the needs of those we meet who have been abused. The workshop made us aware of some of the signs of abuse, and the ways we can best help, to ensure abuse in any of its forms does not prosper in the church."
Numbers are limited to 20 people so please book asap to ensure a place.
