Experience sailing on the Broads on this Christian adventure holiday open to all young people. Do something different in your October half-term!
This is Cormorants 28th year - it's a great week which has always been fully booked. Don't miss your opportunity!
Cormorants is a sailing holiday for young people run every autumn half term. For a week we cruise the northern Broads, sleeping and eating on board, in flotilla of yachts (separate ones for boys and girls). We have motor-cruisers as our base and supply vessels. You don't have to know how to sail beforehand - but are welcome to learn. Some of our skippers were once beginners and campers with us, and sailing has become a lifetime's interest. However, Cormorants is a sailing experience and holiday, it is not a sail training course.
Most evenings the yachts pair off and the crews join up to explore Christian faith very informally. Some evenings we meet up in a village or church hall. You don't have to be a church goer to come, but some who come will be.
Each yacht tows a sailing/rowing dinghy which the crew can take out, if conditions are right, without a leader on board.
The Revd Graham Steel, Rector of the South Trinity Broads Benefice, leads the holiday. He learnt to sail on a similar cruise as a teenager.
We have a team of enthusiastic leaders, and every yacht skipper has to be qualified. The leaders pay the same fee as the young people to come.
We can offer limited help in situations of financial difficulty through a Bursary Fund (see downloads page).
We are licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority and affiliated to the Standing Conference of Christian Sailing Cruises.
Child Protection: this holiday operates under the Child Protection Guidelines of the Diocese of Norwich. You can see our Child Protection Policy on the downloads page.
First aid: one of our leaders is expected to be a GP. All leaders have some first aid training and some hold At Work qualifications.
The Cruise is self-funding with leaders and young people paying the same fee. But we don't want anyone to be excluded solely because of costs. Therefore we have a Bursary Fund. We are grateful to those who can support Cormorants through our Bursary and Training Funds. You can download a donations form on the downloads page.
Cormorants is part of the Norwich Diocesan Board of Finance with a Constitution approved by the Bishop and is supervised by a Management Committee.
£230 (bursaries available). Bookings must be made in advance. Booking forms are available to download.
