Hope 08

The whole church engaged in mission.

"I honestly believe 'Hope' in 2008 is an opportunity, perhaps like we've never had before, for every denomination, stream, conference and movement to play to their strengths and together to make a huge impact on this nation"
Andy Hawthorne (The Message)

Hope 08 originated with the National Prayer network, YFC, Message Trust and Soul Survivor.  It is for all Christians, whatever their age group or churchmanship.

The vision behind HOPE 2008 is huge, yet like all large initiatives the most important steps are the first ones. Hope 08 have provided some of the resources and ideas for you to consider before when making plans for this adventure that we are all on together.

The idea is to make 2008 a year in which the whole church is engaged in all aspects of mission.

It is about engagement in the community with the aim of making God better known and for the people of God to be a blessing to those around them.

Five key points throughout the year:

January: Fresh Hope an opportunity to pick up on the idea of new year resolutions and engage with the community.
e.g. if someone has a resolution to be a better parent then individuals get together with them to see how they are getting on.  Churches could run lifestyle courses.

March: The Big Hope with the aim of making Easter accessible to all
e.g. activities based around practical exploration of Lent and the Easter story

May: Hope where you live with the challenge of Christians giving 1 million hours of kindness to their communities
e.g. find ways of meeting community needs such as gardening and painting with no strings attached

May to September - prayer triplets to pray for:

September: Hope Explored with Churches running courses across the uk where people can explore the Christian faith in an accessible and friendly way

DecemberThe gift of hope focussed on Advent and Christmas

Each of the five points are resourced with ideas.
