Those who believe that they have a vocation to either Ordained or Reader ministry normally work with a vocations adviser in order to clarify God’s call for them.
Ordained and Reader ministries are licensed by the Bishop and thus there is a separate selection process for each (more information will be added to the site about the selection process in due course).
Following selection, Readers train with the Diocesan Ministry Course and ordination candidates train either locally, regionally or nationally in consultation with the Diocesan Director of Ordinands.
Training for authorised ministry locally within the Diocese is the responsibility of the Diocesan Training Team based at Emmaus House.
The Norwich Theology Centre is a new partnership between this team and some of the Cathedral facilities, especially the Cathedral library, so you may therefore see the Norwich Theology Centre on some of the training team materials.

Training is normally part-time over three years and integrated academic, practical and formational elements in a variety of modules. As of 2008 all modules are accredited by Anglia Ruskin University.
Training is seen as a partnership between the Theology Centre, the student's benefice and the student, with a significant amount of time spent in training in the home benefice under the supervision of the incumbent.
Since our students are studying part-time, there is recognition of their ministries in the work place and local community.
