Visiting a church

Norfolk has over 600 historic church buildings, more per acre and per person than anywhere else in the world.

The Diocese recognises the importance of these wonderful buildings to Norfolk's tourism industry and is pursuing a number of initiatives to make them more accessible to tourists, pilgrims and local people.

An Open Churches Project operates in the Broads and Rivers area of the Diocese and future funding is being sought to develop a Diocesan-wide project.

A selection of churches which are open for visits can be viewed in the Church Tourism leaflet.

To promote and enhance the enjoyment of this unique heritage, the Diocese works closely with organisations such as Norfolk Tourism and the Churches Tourism Association.
